About this scholarship

The TCU Orchestra String Scholarship is an audition-based performance award administered by the TCU School of Music. Awards range widely based on the audition panel's assessment of repertoire difficulty, tone, and ensemble readiness. Music majors and minors are both eligible.

Scholarship details

  • Award range: $6,000 to $40,000 per year

Eligibility criteria

  • Admitted to TCU and intends to participate in TCU orchestra
  • Plays violin, viola, cello, or double bass at audition-ready level
  • Submits a prepared audition program
  • Maintains ensemble participation and GPA each year

Application process

  1. Email Prof. Yuan Lu (y.lu@tcu.edu) in January to request an audition slot
  2. Prepare two contrasting works that show range and tone
  3. Audition live in February or submit a recorded program if instructed
  4. Receive scholarship offer alongside the financial aid package
