Allegheny
Decision sheet

Pennsylvania · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

Allegheny's flagship Trustee Scholarship is awarded automatically (no separate application) to about half of applicants on a holistic basis up to $43,000/year, and—unusually—it renews for four years with NO minimum GPA, only continued full-time enrollment.

Selection beyond grades and scores. These awards are not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read each award's selection rules, application steps and dates. Meeting a minimum is not an award offer.

Awards to discuss

First 3 of 4 recorded awards, in chapter display order. This is a selection, not a ranking. Read the full chapter for all awards. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Allegheny College Trustee Scholarship

$10,000-$43,000 · Published range

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

Eligibility: Holistic: academic excellence balanced with leadership, co-curricular involvement, community engagement, and other talents. No separate application — automatic when you apply for admission by the deadline. First-year and transfer students eligible; must be full-time, degree-seeking

Renewal: Renews automatically for up to 4 years of full-time enrollment at Allegheny (or an Allegheny-sponsored off-campus study program). NO minimum GPA is required to renew — only continued full-time, degree-seeking enrollment.

Other terms: No published GPA/test grid — holistic review (do not infer a grid). Up to $43,000/year (up to $172,000 over four years); approximately half of applicants receive a Trustee Scholarship, with only a small number receiving the top award. NOTE: the page body states $43,000/yr while the page header and meta-description state 'up to $42,000' (see Section C). The amount floor shown here ($10,000) is a conservative placeholder — the page does not publish a minimum, so verify the actual range.

Eligibility: Separate application with audition materials (no more than 8 minutes); reviewed as space permits

Renewal: Renewable based on your continued participation in the arts.

Other terms: Separate competitive arts pool, distinct from the Trustee Scholarship.

Allegheny Referral Scholarship

$1,000 · Published amount

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

Eligibility: Referred by a friend of the College; only one referral scholarship even if referred by multiple friends

Renewal: Renewable for all 4 years ($4,000 total impact).

Other terms: $1,000/year, $4,000 over four years.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: The scholarship page lists external/outside scholarship resources but does not state how OUTSIDE/private scholarships interact with or displace Allegheny institutional aid. Multiple Allegheny awards (Trustee + Referral + Visit Grant) are presented as separately renewable, implying they stack, but a formal stacking/cap policy was not found on the pages opened.
