Augustana (IL)
Decision sheet

Illinois · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

Augustana College (Rock Island IL, Lutheran) auto-awards a recalculated-GPA/rank merit grid (Founders $28,000 to Presidential $32,000) with tiered renewal-GPA floors and an explicit no-growth (erosion) rule — your award never exceeds the first-year amount. (DRAFT)

More than one award path. Some awards use published academic thresholds. Others have different selection criteria. A score chart does not describe every award at this school.

Awards to discuss

First 3 of 4 recorded awards, in chapter display order. This is a selection, not a ranking. Read the full chapter for all awards. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Academic Merit Grid — High School (Presidential / Dean's / Founders)

$28,000-$32,000 · Published range

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

GPA: Presidential ~3.8+ (top 10%); Dean's ~3.5+ (top 20%); Founders ~3.2+ (top third), recalculated · SAT: Presidential 1300+; Dean's 1200-1300; Founders 1130-1190 (historical) · ACT: Presidential 28+; Dean's 25-27; Founders 23-24 (historical, test-optional)

Eligibility: Automatically considered on the admission application; one award per student; notified in acceptance letter

Renewal: Renewal requires full-time enrollment and an Augustana cumulative GPA: Presidential 3.0, Dean's 2.75, Founders 2.5. Students who miss the renewal GPA may receive a LOWER scholarship; awards never exceed the first-year amount in later years (no growth).

Other terms: Test scores are historical/typical (Augustana is test-optional). Recalculated GPA and class rank drive the award.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: Augustana typically leaves other grants, scholarships, work-study, and federal loans untouched when a student receives an outside scholarship; aid is reduced only if total aid from all sources exceeds financial need and/or cost of attendance, and then in order starting with work-study, then loans, then institutional grants, with scholarships cut last.
