Belmont Abbey
Decision sheet

North Carolina · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

Belmont Abbey pairs modest GPA-based Merit Awards ($2,500-$6,000) and named Premier Scholarships ($7,000-$9,000) with a last-dollar Abbey Advantage Scholarship that covers remaining tuition for qualifying North Carolina residents — but the college's awards explicitly do not stack with one another.

Selection beyond grades and scores. These awards are not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read each award's selection rules, application steps and dates. Meeting a minimum is not an award offer.

Awards to discuss

First 3 of 8 recorded awards, in chapter display order. This is a selection, not a ranking. Read the full chapter for all awards. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Merit Awards (Trustees / Chancellor's / Presidential / Abbey Community Grant) — First-Year grid

$2,500-$6,000 (each tier listed as 'Up to') · Variable or qualified amount

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

GPA: Average Unweighted GPA 2.5-2.99 (Abbey Community Grant, up to $2,500); 3.0-3.39 (Presidential, up to $4,500); 3.4-3.59 (Chancellor's, up to $5,000); 3.6 or higher (Trustees, up to $6,000)

Eligibility: Based on the student's transcripts. Not stackable with Honors and Premier Scholarships.

Renewal: Recorded as renewable. Full renewal conditions are not recorded here; request them from the school.

Other terms: Page says awards are 'based on a student's transcripts' but never uses the word 'automatic' and lists each amount only as 'Up to' — so automaticOnStats is left false and the exact award within each band is not guaranteed. Renewal terms for these Merit Awards are not published.

Merit Awards (Trustees / Chancellor's / Presidential / Abbey Community Grant) — Transfer grid

$3,500-$6,000 (each tier listed as 'Up to') · Variable or qualified amount

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

GPA: Average Unweighted GPA 2.0-2.99 (Abbey Community Grant, up to $3,500); 3.0-3.24 (Presidential, up to $4,500); 3.25-3.49 (Chancellor's, up to $5,000); 3.5 or higher (Trustees, up to $6,000)

Eligibility: Based on the student's transcripts. Not stackable with Honors and Premier Scholarships.

Renewal: Not marked as renewable in this record. Ask the school whether renewal is available.

Other terms: This second Merit Awards grid appears in the Transfer Student tab of the financial-aid page (anchors '#awards-ts', '#breakdown-ts'); GPA bands and the bottom-tier amount differ from the first-year grid. Tab attribution is inferred from page anchors — confirm with the aid office which grid applies to transfers.

The Honors College (Honors College Scholarship)

$9,000 · Published amount

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

GPA: Non-weighted high school GPA of 3.5 or higher

Eligibility: Awarded to students who apply, interview, and are accepted into the Honors College. Scholarship Weekend: Friday & Saturday, Feb. 6-7, 2026.

Renewal: Renewable for up to 4 years. Students must be full-time and maintain at least a 3.25 GPA.

Other terms: Largest published named award; requires separate application and interview.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: Belmont Abbey publishes explicit internal anti-stacking rules: the GPA-based Merit Awards cannot be combined with Honors and Premier Scholarships; the Abbey Advantage Scholarship cannot be combined with any other institutional scholarship; and the Out-of-State Grant cannot be combined with an athletic scholarship. The college encourages students to pursue outside scholarships but publishes no policy on how outside/private scholarships affect institutional aid.
