Centre
Decision sheet

Kentucky · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

Kentucky liberal arts college with one of the country's clearest published outside-scholarship rules ($1,000 threshold), an Early-Decision incentive ($20,000 Front and Centre award), and two competitive full-tuition-plus premier programs (Lincoln Scholars, Grissom Scholars).

More than one award path. Some awards use published academic thresholds. Others have different selection criteria. A score chart does not describe every award at this school.

Awards to discuss

First 3 of 5 recorded awards, in chapter display order. This is a selection, not a ranking. Read the full chapter for all awards. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

General Merit Scholarships (automatic)

Tiered awards; specific dollar bands not publicly published by Centre · Published award terms

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

Eligibility: All admitted applicants are considered. No separate scholarship application. Over 50% of applicants qualify for merit aid. Centre states: 'No separate application is required; we automatically consider you for these scholarships when we consider you for admission.'

Renewal: Renewal requires meeting a minimum GPA that is graduated by award level (higher tiers carry higher GPA floors). Loss is not automatic — students may petition the Academic Standards Committee for an exception.

Front and Centre Scholarship (Early Decision incentive)

$20,000 total ($5,000 per year) · Published award terms

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

Eligibility: Awarded to all students admitted through Early Decision. Stacks on top of any other merit scholarship. Centre notes 'some restrictions apply regarding combining the Front and Centre Scholarship with premier and special talent scholarships.'

Renewal: Renewable across four years contingent on continued enrollment.

Other terms: Effectively a $20,000 reward for committing through Early Decision. Most ED-shopping families do not realize this is a published, guaranteed add — not a contingent award.

Lincoln Scholars Program

Full tuition, fees, room and board, plus mentoring, special seminars, and three fully funded summer enrichment experiences · Published coverage or package

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

Eligibility: Open to all first-year applicants (domestic and international). Apply for admission by December 1 (any application plan). Separate Lincoln Scholars Application due December 1. ~30 finalists invited to a virtual or on-campus selection event in late February/early March. 10 recipients named by mid-March.

Renewal: Renewable based on GPA and program participation. 3.2 GPA renewal floor.

Other terms: One of Centre's two premier scholarship programs. Each program recognizes 10 incoming students per year. Students may apply to both Lincoln and Grissom, but a student will only be selected as a finalist for one.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: Centre publishes an unusually specific outside-scholarship rule: outside awards under $1,000 do not reduce the Centre grant; outside awards of $1,000 or more may reduce it. All outside scholarships must be reported to the Office of Financial Aid.

The research date is not a guarantee that a policy still applies. Confirm current amounts, deadlines and conditions with the school before making a financial decision.
