Decision sheet

California · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

Orange County private with discretionary academic merit awards reaching $42,000 per year plus separate talent scholarships in film, performing arts, and engineering — but Chapman publishes no stat-banded ladder, so the award is decided inside admission.

More than one award path. Some awards use published academic thresholds. Others have different selection criteria. A score chart does not describe every award at this school.

Awards to discuss

The 2 awards in this school's research. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Academic Merit Scholarship

Up to $42,000 per year · Variable or qualified amount

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

Eligibility: No separate application; awarded automatically at admission to applicants who meet the deadline. Chapman does not publish GPA or test-score cutoffs — the dollar amount is set at the discretion of the Admission Committee based on standardized tests (if submitted), curriculum strength, and academic performance.

Renewal: Renewable for up to eight semesters. All merit recipients must maintain a cumulative 2.75 GPA to renew. Awards apply solely toward tuition.

Fowler School of Engineering Talent Scholarships

$2,000 per year up to 100% of tuition, room and board · Variable or qualified amount

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

Eligibility: Awarded to engineering applicants based on the engineering talent review; the top end can reach full tuition, room and board. Separate from the general academic merit award.

Renewal: Engineering talent awards are stackable with academic merit; renewal follows the standard 2.75 GPA merit requirement.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: Chapman states it will make every attempt to reduce loans and work-study before decreasing grants or scholarships when outside funds affect the aid offer, but the published policy does not guarantee grants are touched only to prevent an over-award — that specific condition is not established.
