Chestnut Hill
Decision sheet

Pennsylvania · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

DRAFT: Chestnut Hill publishes a fully automatic, GPA-only merit grid ($12,000–$24,000/yr) with no test scores required and an award tier for every GPA band — even below 2.5 — plus stackable legacy and Catholic-high-school awards.

More than one award path. Some awards use published academic thresholds. Others have different selection criteria. A score chart does not describe every award at this school.

Awards to discuss

First 3 of 7 recorded awards, in chapter display order. This is a selection, not a ranking. Read the full chapter for all awards. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

First-Year Scholarship Matrix (Presidential / Distinction / Scholars / Achievement / Rise / Promise)

$12,000-$24,000 · Published range

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

GPA: Tiered: 3.9+ = $24,000; 3.5-3.89 = $20,000; 3.25-3.49 = $18,000; 3.0-3.24 = $16,000; 2.5-2.89 = $14,000; 2.49 and below = $12,000

Eligibility: Must be full-time; GPA is based on a 4.0 sliding scale; no additional application required

Renewal: These awards are renewable as long as you remain in good academic standing; institutional funding limited to a maximum of four years (8 semesters).

Other terms: Awarded by the Admissions Office at admission. Grid bands skip 2.90-2.99 as published (Rise Award 2.5-2.89, Promise Award 2.49 and below) — gap reproduced exactly as on the page.

Transfer Scholarship Matrix (Distinguished Transfer / Noble Griffin / Golden Elite / Thrive / Opportunity)

$12,000-$22,000 · Published range

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

GPA: Tiered: 3.75+ = $22,000; 3.25-3.74 = $18,000; 2.75-3.24 = $16,000; 2.50-2.74 = $14,000; 2.49 and below = $12,000

Eligibility: Transfer students; must be full-time; no additional application required

Renewal: These awards are renewable as long as you remain in good academic standing; institutional funding limited to a maximum of four years (8 semesters).

Other terms: Separate automatic grid for transfer students, awarded by the Admissions Office.

Interdisciplinary Honors Program (IDHP)

$5,000 · Published amount

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

Eligibility: First-year students selected for the IDHP program

Renewal: Per year for four years.

Other terms: Selective program award; the Legacy of Service Scholarship explicitly does NOT stack with IDHP.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: Chestnut Hill reduces institutional grant funding only when combined outside grant/scholarship aid and institutional grant funding would create a credit balance on the student's account (i.e., aid exceeding billed costs); no refund is issued in that case. This credit-balance trigger is narrower than the full cost of attendance the college separately uses to define an overaward.
