Macaulay Honors College
Decision sheet

New York · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

Macaulay's merit package is a competitive honors admission that, for New York State residents, covers full tuition for 8 semesters plus a laptop, an Opportunities Fund grant (base $1,500; Enhanced $2,500-$5,000), and the NYC Cultural Passport — but fees, housing, and out-of-state/international tuition are never covered.

Selection beyond grades and scores. These awards are not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read each award's selection rules, application steps and dates. Meeting a minimum is not an award offer.

Awards to discuss

First 3 of 4 recorded awards, in chapter display order. This is a selection, not a ranking. Read the full chapter for all awards. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Macaulay Tuition Scholarship

Full tuition · Published coverage or package

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

Eligibility: Must be admitted through Macaulay's competitive honors review AND meet CUNY's New York State residency requirements for in-state tuition; FAFSA and TAP required annually. International students are not eligible.

Renewal: Funds 8 semesters of full-time undergraduate tuition within four years; limited summer/winter classes covered (excluding fees). CUNY and New York State require completing the FAFSA and TAP applications annually to maintain the scholarship.

Other terms: Not automatic on stats — admission is holistic and competitive (transcript, activities, essays, recommendations, sometimes interviews). For the class of 2030, SAT/ACT are optional. The scholarship covers tuition only; it excludes all fees and expenses (student activity, USS, Consolidated Service, materials, technology, library, etc.) and does not cover housing or board. Available only to New York State residents as defined by CUNY.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: This school's guaranteed tuition award is last-dollar: outside scholarships and other gift aid are applied first, and the institutional award covers only the remaining balance of base tuition and fees - so outside awards reduce it dollar-for-dollar once gift aid approaches that threshold.
