Denison
Decision sheet

Ohio · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

A highly selective Ohio liberal-arts college that pairs unusually generous merit awards (from $5,000 per year up to full tuition, all guaranteed for four years) with a need-based pledge to meet 100% of demonstrated need.

Selection beyond grades and scores. These awards are not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read each award's selection rules, application steps and dates. Meeting a minimum is not an award offer.

Awards to discuss

The 2 awards in this school's research. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Denison Merit Scholarships (general academic merit)

$5,000 to full tuition per year · Published range

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

Eligibility: Awarded automatically on the strength of the admission application; students are considered upon submitting a complete application. No separate scholarship application. Amounts are determined holistically, not on a published stat grid.

Renewal: All Denison merit scholarships are given for four years (eight semesters). Each award carries a GPA requirement and the student must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to retain it each year.

Ohio Scholarship

$25,000 per year ($100,000 over four years) · Published award terms

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

Eligibility: Any new first-time student with a permanent Ohio address or graduating from an Ohio public or private high school. No separate application or essay; submit the admission application by December 1.

Renewal: Awarded for all four years. Stacks with need-based aid; Denison still meets 100% of demonstrated financial need beyond the award.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: Outside scholarships reduce loans and/or work-study first; institutional grants are only reduced if required to prevent an over-award.

The research date is not a guarantee that a policy still applies. Confirm current amounts, deadlines and conditions with the school before making a financial decision.
