EWU
Decision sheet

Washington · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

EWU gives new freshmen automatic, four-year renewable scholarships based purely on residency and high-school GPA (no test scores), surfaced only through an on-site calculator, plus the prestigious Killin full-in-state-tuition Honors award for three students a year.

More than one award path. Some awards use published academic thresholds. Others have different selection criteria. A score chart does not describe every award at this school.

Awards to discuss

The 2 awards in this school's research. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Automatic Freshman Scholarship — Washington Resident

$1,000-$3,000 per year · Published range

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

GPA: Amount scales with HS GPA: GPA 3.0 = University Scholarship $1,000/yr; GPA 4.0 = Presidential Scholarship $3,000/yr (at least one intermediate named tier exists between these but was not captured this session) · SAT: No SAT/ACT required · ACT: No SAT/ACT required

Eligibility: Must be a first-time entering freshman (fall term, no post-high-school college work), a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, a Cheney/Spokane (state-support) campus student, and apply for EWU admission by February 1 for the following academic year. Amounts are surfaced only through the on-site calculator; actual award determination is made at time of EWU Admission.

Renewal: Described as a four-year renewable scholarship; specific renewal GPA/credit terms not stated on this page.

Other terms: EWU publishes these amounts only via a dynamic calculator (no static grid). Verified data points (Washington Resident): GPA 3.0 -> University Scholarship $1,000/yr; GPA 4.0 -> Presidential Scholarship $3,000/yr. Non-resident (WUE and non-WUE) amounts and intermediate GPA tiers were not captured because the calculator triggered a CAPTCHA, which was not solved.

Orland and Bernice Killin Scholarship (Honors Program)

Full in-state tuition for four years · Published coverage or package

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

Eligibility: Each year the EWU Honors Program selects three outstanding applicants; selection considers demonstrated engagement and curiosity and the scholarship's potential to transform the student's experience. Competitive — apply to Honors.

Renewal: Granted for four years.

Other terms: Covers full IN-STATE tuition (not full cost of attendance, and not non-resident tuition). Only three awarded each year.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: Outside scholarships reduce loans and/or work-study first; institutional grants are only reduced if required to prevent an over-award.

The research date is not a guarantee that a policy still applies. Confirm current amounts, deadlines and conditions with the school before making a financial decision.
