FIU
Decision sheet

Florida · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

Miami's large Hispanic-serving public where the headline aid story is FIU's Golden Promise — a 100% tuition-and-fees guarantee for Florida residents with SAI ≤ 0 — stacked with state Bright Futures rather than a stat-driven merit ladder.

Published academic criteria. These awards are recorded as automatic on academic criteria. Match the published grades and scores, then check residency, entering year and every additional condition.

Awards to discuss

The 2 awards in this school's research. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

FIU's Golden Promise

100% of tuition and fees · Published coverage or package

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

GPA: 2.0+ cumulative GPA each semester for renewal

Eligibility: Florida resident, U.S. citizen or permanent resident, FAFSA filed before enrollment, Student Aid Index (SAI) of 0 or less. First-time-in-college freshman (fall 2017+) or new transfer (fall 2023+). Minimum 12 credits per semester (15 recommended).

Renewal: Covers up to 30 credits per year, 120 credits (4 years), provided the student completes 30 credit hours each year and maintains a 2.0+ cumulative GPA each semester.

Other terms: Funded through a combination of federal, state, and institutional grants — not a single line-item institutional scholarship. SAI ≤ 0 is the binding test, not high-school GPA or test scores.

FIU Institutional Merit Scholarships

Amount varies; named tiers and dollar values not published on the public scholarship page · Variable or qualified amount

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

Eligibility: Awarded by the FIU Office of Scholarships to incoming freshmen and transfers based on the admission application. Details and specific tier names live in the AcademicWorks scholarship search portal rather than on the public scholarship page.

Renewal: Renewal terms vary by individual scholarship; verify in the offer letter.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

The research date is not a guarantee that a policy still applies. Confirm current amounts, deadlines and conditions with the school before making a financial decision.
