Renewal risk profile
Florida Tech's renewal bar is achievable for steady students but isn't generous. Most awards require a cumulative GPA in the 3.0–3.4 band plus full-time enrollment. Audit the strictest tier on this school's list before assuming the four-year value is locked in.

How families lose this aid
- Underestimating the Panther Distinguished gates
It requires Florida residency + U.S. citizenship/eligibility, qualifying for Bright Futures Florida Academic Scholars, a Florida Financial Aid Application filed while in high school, a FAFSA by Feb 1, admission by Feb 1, AND a separate Distinguished Scholar application by Feb 1 — miss any one and you lose it.
- Ignoring the higher renewal-GPA cliff on the premium awards
The general Florida Tech Scholarship renews at a 2.00 cumulative GPA, but the Panther Distinguished and Farmer awards require a 3.00 cumulative GPA — a real cliff for top-award holders.
Renewal questions families ask
