Benacquisto Scholarship (National Merit Finalists, Florida residents)

Eligibility: National Merit Finalist with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation; list FSU as first-choice with NMSC by May 1 of senior year. US citizen or eligible non-citizen. Earned a standard Florida high school diploma. Enroll full-time at FSU for the Fall term immediately following high school graduation.
Renewal: Maintain a 3.0 minimum cumulative FSU GPA. Benacquisto's mechanics are stricter than FSU's own awards: complete a minimum of 12 credit hours each fall and spring AND successfully complete ALL credit hours enrolled after the drop/add period — Benacquisto scholars are not permitted to drop courses after drop/add.
Other terms: A Florida STATE program (administered under state rules through the Office of Student Financial Assistance; FSU disburses it), not an FSU institutional award — never conflate it with FSU's own Out-of-State National Merit Award. Guarantees admission into FSU's University Honors Program. Stacks with Bright Futures and the NMSC scholarship, and always totals full in-state cost of attendance. Effectively a full ride for qualifying Florida-resident Finalists.

Renewal: Enrollment in 15 credit hours each semester, cumulative FSU GPA of 3.0 or better, and consistent degree progress. Renewable for eight semesters.
Other terms: FSU's marquee out-of-state merit award — an FSU institutional package, distinct from the state Benacquisto program for Florida residents. The stated $75,776 total reconciles exactly with its parts ($57,776 + $16,000 + $2,000). All NMF recipients who apply to the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) in year one are guaranteed admission.

Vires Scholarship (Florida residents)

Other terms: In-state merit award stacked on top of Bright Futures — FSU's own language: 'This scholarship would be in addition to any other merit-based awards offered at the time of admission and the Bright Futures Scholarship.' Specific GPA/test cutoffs are not published; the award is calibrated each year based on the academic profile of the admitted class.
