Goshen College
Decision sheet

Indiana · Research checked 2026-06-07 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

Goshen College automatically awards every admitted first-year student an academic scholarship of $14,000-$20,000 with only a 2.0 renewal GPA, and layers competitive full-tuition awards (President's Leadership Award, Dream Award, ILI Scholarship) on top of a published transfer grid — but caps families at a maximum of two awards across academic, achievement, and tuition-discount categories.

More than one award path. Some awards use published academic thresholds. Others have different selection criteria. A score chart does not describe every award at this school.

Awards to discuss

First-Year Academic Scholarships (Dean's / High Honors / Honors / Academic Excellence)

$14,000-$20,000 · Published range

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

GPA: Not published — page says awards are 'based on a student's academic performance' but publishes no GPA/test grid

Eligibility: Automatically awarded to all first-year students admitted into the traditional undergraduate program, regardless of major

Renewal: Limited to up to eight semesters; renewable based on continued minimum GPA levels — minimum renewal GPA of 2.0 for all academic scholarships. The amount remains at the level originally awarded each year.

Other terms: Four named levels: Dean's Academic Scholarship $20,000; High Honors Academic Scholarship $18,000; Honors Academic Scholarship $16,000; Academic Excellence Scholarship $14,000. No GPA/test cutoff grid is published for the four levels; the school points to its Net Price Calculator to estimate the award.

Transfer Academic Scholarships (GPA grid)

$6,000-$12,000 · Published range

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

GPA: 2.00+ (amount banded by college GPA: 3.50+ = $12,000; 3.00-3.49 = $10,000; 2.50-2.99 = $8,000; 2.00-2.49 = $6,000)

Eligibility: Must transfer at least 24 college credits to qualify

Renewal: Minimum renewal GPA of 2.0 for all academic scholarships.

Other terms: Automatic on transfer GPA. Transfers may also qualify for the achievement scholarships above (application/audition required).

President's Leadership Award

Full tuition · Published coverage or package

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

GPA: 3.85 cumulative (on a 4.0 scale) · SAT: 1340 · ACT: 29

Eligibility: Must meet ONE of: 3.85 GPA, 1340 SAT, 29 ACT, or National Merit Semifinalist. Requires application, personal experience portfolio (essay questions), high school transcript, and participation in Scholarship Day. Application deadline January 15.

Renewal: Full-tuition scholarship renewable for a total of 8 semesters.

Other terms: Competitive. Replaces the student's previously awarded academic scholarship — it does not stack on top of it. Full tuition only, not full cost of attendance.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: Goshen caps students at a maximum of two awards across academic scholarships, achievement scholarships, and tuition-discount benefits combined, and generally allows only one achievement award. The top competitive awards (President's Leadership Award, First Gen Leadership Award) REPLACE the automatic academic scholarship rather than stacking. Tuition-discount recipients can combine discount plus scholarships only up to full tuition. How outside/private scholarships are treated is not published on the pages reviewed.
