Lewis & Clark
Decision sheet

Oregon · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

Lewis & Clark gives every applicant automatic (but undisclosed-amount) academic merit scholarships, while its top award — the full-tuition Neely Scholarship — is gated to students from a specific set of Oregon and Washington counties who apply Early Action or Early Decision.

Selection beyond grades and scores. These awards are not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read each award's selection rules, application steps and dates. Meeting a minimum is not an award offer.

Awards to discuss

First 3 of 5 recorded awards, in chapter display order. This is a selection, not a ranking. Read the full chapter for all awards. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Academic Merit-Based Scholarships (Oregon Maple or Sequoia)

Amount not published · Published award terms

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

Eligibility: Entering first-year and transfer students; based on academic program and performance. No published amount or GPA/test grid.

Renewal: Renewable each year provided the student maintains satisfactory academic progress (SAP); merit recipients must also meet any GPA/renewal standards on their specific award.

Other terms: Two named tracks (Oregon Maple, Sequoia). Scholarship amounts vary and are not published on the merit page.

MUST apply through the Common Application via Early Action or Early Decision. Selection by academic accomplishments, leadership, community impact, and a day-long on-campus program + group interview.

Renewal: Renewable annually provided the student maintains satisfactory academic progress.

Other terms: Lewis & Clark's highest merit award. Five full-tuition scholarships awarded to entering first-year students. Funded by Barbara Hirschi Neely endowment.

Tuition Exchange Award

Per Tuition Exchange, Inc. guidance (amount not published) · Published coverage or package

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

Eligibility: Dependents of eligible employees at Tuition Exchange member institutions; recipients identified by the Office of Admissions; limited number each year

Renewal: Must maintain SAP and continue to be certified as eligible by the participating institution.

Other terms: ANTI-STACK: recipients are NOT eligible to receive other institutional merit-based scholarships, and receipt may require reducing previously awarded institutional need-based aid.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: Outside scholarships reduce loans and/or work-study first; institutional grants are only reduced if required to prevent an over-award.

The research date is not a guarantee that a policy still applies. Confirm current amounts, deadlines and conditions with the school before making a financial decision.
