Marymount
Decision sheet

Virginia · Research checked 2026-06-07 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

Marymount publishes a clear automatic GPA-based merit grid for transfer students ($10,000-$16,000), but its four named freshman scholarships (Presidential, Dean, Provost, Saints) carry no published dollar amounts, and all admissions merit awards are tuition-only with a strict one-award-per-student rule.

More than one award path. Some awards use published academic thresholds. Others have different selection criteria. A score chart does not describe every award at this school.

Awards to discuss

First 3 of 8 recorded awards, in chapter display order. This is a selection, not a ranking. Read the full chapter for all awards. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Merit-Based Transfer Scholarships (Academic Distinction / Academic Excellence / Saints / Opportunity)

$10,000-$16,000 · Published range

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

GPA: 3.20+ for $16,000; 3.00+ for $14,500; 2.75+ for $12,500; all other admitted transfers receive $10,000

Eligibility: Full-time enrollment; first bachelor's degree only; automatically offered the highest scholarship they qualify for with the application for admission. March 1 priority for application and supporting documents.

Renewal: All transfer scholarships are renewable for up to four years of study, provided you maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of (at least) a 2.5.

Other terms: Grid verified on the International Students: Financial Advice page (the dedicated Transfer Scholarship Opportunities page would not load — see Section C). No student may receive more than one of these awards.

The Marymount Presidential Scholarship

Amount not published · Published award terms

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

Eligibility: Eligible full-time freshman applicants are automatically offered the highest scholarship they qualify for; qualifying criteria are not published. Priority consideration: application and supporting documents by March 1.

Renewal: Renewable for up to four years of study, provided you maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of (at least) a 2.5 (per the New Student Scholarships page); the Financial Aid FAQs page instead states a 2.0 cumulative GPA, full-time enrollment, and a four-year (eight-semester) limit — conflict flagged in Section C.

Other terms: No dollar amount is published anywhere on the pages opened. Award is tuition-specific and cannot be combined with the other three freshman academic scholarships. NOTE: the source page is headed 'Freshman Scholarships (entering Fall 2021)' — staleness flagged in Section C.

The Marymount Dean Scholarship

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

Eligibility: Automatically offered to eligible full-time freshman applicants who qualify; criteria not published. March 1 priority.

Renewal: Renewable for up to four years of study with a minimum cumulative GPA of (at least) a 2.5 (per the New Student Scholarships page); the Financial Aid FAQs page states 2.0 — conflict flagged in Section C.

Other terms: Amount not published. Tuition-specific; one academic scholarship per student.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: A student may hold only ONE Marymount academic (admissions merit) scholarship — freshman or transfer — and these awards apply to tuition only. Marymount states its merit scholarships CAN still be applied if a student wins a TheDream.US National Scholarship. No general policy on how other private/outside scholarships are treated was found on the pages opened.
