Oklahoma Wesleyan (OKWU)
Decision sheet

Oklahoma · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

DRAFT: OKWU runs a modest automatic GPA grid ($3,000-$6,000) plus a $1,000-$3,000 test-score add-on, but its big money sits in restricted packages — $11,000 Honors College, $10,000 OKWU Prep, full-tuition Valedictorian, and 50%-off church-affiliation awards — most of which explicitly cannot be combined with other OKWU aid.

More than one award path. Some awards use published academic thresholds. Others have different selection criteria. A score chart does not describe every award at this school.

Awards to discuss

First 3 of 7 recorded awards, in chapter display order. This is a selection, not a ranking. Read the full chapter for all awards. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Academic Scholarship (GPA-based)

$3,000-$6,000 per year · Published range

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

GPA: 3.3→$3,000; 3.4→$3,500; 3.5→$4,000; 3.6→$4,500; 3.7→$5,000; 3.8→$5,500; 3.9+→$6,000 (high school GPA)

Eligibility: Incoming freshmen and transfer students; full-time, first-degree seekers; 'OKWU automatically considers academic scholarships based on high school GPA'

Renewal: Renewable annually with required cumulative GPA and good standing with Student Life: $3,000-$4,000 awards require 3.3 cumulative; $4,500-$6,000 awards require 3.6 cumulative. Eligibility reviewed at the end of each academic year.

Other terms: Note the renewal cliff: a $4,500+ award demands a 3.6 college GPA — higher than some entry GPAs that earned it.

Standardized Test Score Scholarship

$1,000-$3,000 · Published range

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

SAT: 1100-1190→$1,000; 1200-1320→$2,000; 1330+→$3,000 · ACT: 22-24→$1,000; 25-28→$2,000; 29+→$3,000

Eligibility: CLT: 72-77→$1,000; 78-88→$2,000; 89+→$3,000. OKWU is test-optional; awarded only to students who choose to submit scores.

Renewal: Recorded as renewable. Full renewal conditions are not recorded here; request them from the school.

Other terms: Renewal terms not stated on the page.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: OKWU's page is dense with no-combine rules: athletic agreements 'are not stackable with other institutional aid'; the Wesleyan (50% off), Commuter, Opportunity Knocks, Second-Degree, LPN-BSN, GMC, and minister-dependent scholarships each 'cannot be combined with other OKWU institutional aid'; many smaller awards cannot combine with percentage-of-tuition or athletic agreements; OKWU Prep lists its own exception list; and Bible Bowl awards are capped: 'Total awards, regardless of source, cannot exceed tuition.' Treatment of general private outside scholarships is otherwise unstated.
