Purdue Northwest
Decision sheet

Indiana · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

PNW's merit aid is automatic but opaque: first-year and transfer students are considered for GPA-based Academic Achievement / Transfer scholarships during admission review with NO published dollar amounts or GPA bands, an award that is revoked if the final transcript GPA falls below the (unpublished) standard — while 180+ donor scholarships run through one Scholarship Universe application due March 1.

More than one award path. Some awards use published academic thresholds. Others have different selection criteria. A score chart does not describe every award at this school.

Awards to discuss

The 3 awards in this school's research. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Academic Achievement Scholarship (first-year, automatic)

Amount not published · Published award terms

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

GPA: Based on high school GPA (qualifying bands not published)

Eligibility: Entering first-year applicants beginning Fall 2026; full-time each semester (12+ credits); minimum 24 credit hours per academic year, progressing toward 4-year graduation; no application required — awarded during application review; must accept the offer of admission to accept the scholarship; awarded in accordance with fund availability

Renewal: Renewable for up to 4 consecutive years (8 semesters). Renewal assessed at the end of Spring semester: 3.0 cumulative GPA and successful completion of at least 24 credit hours = automatic renewal for the following academic year; summer classes considered for those who fall short.

Other terms: REVOCATION RULE: 'Upon receipt of final high school transcript GPA must still qualify for a merit scholarship. If the GPA is below the standard for the merit scholarship, then the scholarship will be revoked.' Recipients notified by email within a week of the admission decision. Dollar values and GPA bands are not published on the page.

PNW Transfer Scholarship (automatic)

Amount not published · Published award terms

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

GPA: Consideration begins with a GPA of 3.0

Eligibility: Entering transfer applicants beginning Fall 2026; full-time each semester (12+ credits); 24+ credit hours per academic year; no application — awarded during application review based on GPA; must accept the offer of admission; revoked if final transcript GPA falls below the merit standard; fund availability applies

Renewal: Renewable for up to 2 consecutive years (4 semesters); renewal assessed at end of Spring: 3.0 cumulative GPA + 24 completed credit hours = automatic renewal; summer classes considered for those who fall short.

PNW Donor-Funded Scholarships via Scholarship Universe (180+ awards)

Varies (amounts not published; 'Scholarship amounts may differ year-to-year') · Variable or qualified amount

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

GPA: Varies by award

Eligibility: One Scholarship Universe application covers consideration for 140+ of PNW's 180+ donor scholarships; the deadline for most PNW scholarships is March 1 every year (the current-cycle deadline has passed — external scholarships still open); committees select recipients against each award's criteria; Purdue SSO login required

Renewal: 'While efforts are made to renew scholarships, awards are for the current year and are not guaranteed to be renewed even if criteria is met.' Some are one-time awards; many have GPA or credit-hour criteria.

Other terms: Named funds include the Honors Scholarship, University Merit Scholarship, Special Merit Scholarship, Chancellor's Leadership Scholarships, Thinnes Family Honors College Scholarship, and dozens of departmental/talent awards — amounts unpublished.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: No institutional stacking or outside-scholarship displacement policy is published on the pages opened. The COA page notes only the federal cap: 'Federal regulations may necessitate a reduction in awards if aid or resources exceed a student's estimated cost of attendance,' and that aid may be adjusted if additional aid is received after initial offers.
