Shenandoah
Decision sheet

Virginia · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

Shenandoah awards every admitted student consideration for GPA-based scholarships from the admission application alone, with a highly selective $22,000 Presidential Scholarship (only 10 per year) that replaces — rather than stacks on — the standard Academic Scholarship.

Selection beyond grades and scores. These awards are not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read each award's selection rules, application steps and dates. Meeting a minimum is not an award offer.

Awards to discuss

First 3 of 7 recorded awards, in chapter display order. This is a selection, not a ranking. Read the full chapter for all awards. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Presidential Scholarship

$22,000 · Published amount

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

GPA: First-Year Students: Minimum high school GPA of 3.8 (weighted GPA is accepted); Transfer Students: Minimum transfer cumulative GPA of 3.5

Eligibility: Must be admitted no later than February 1; only 10 awarded per year; scholastic, leadership, and community activities considered; no additional application required but an activity resume is strongly encouraged

Renewal: This scholarship may be renewed annually for a total four years, as long as the student maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and is enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per semester.

Other terms: Highly selective and limited (10 per year). Awarded in place of the Academic Scholarship, Donor Funded Scholarship(s), and/or Conservatory Scholarship — it does not stack on them.

Academic Scholarship

$7,000 - $17,000 per year · Published range

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

GPA: Based on high school GPA (no published GPA-to-amount grid)

Eligibility: Incoming first-year students in the College of Arts & Sciences, School of Business, or School of Nursing; amount also depends on program of study ('May very by degree.')

Renewal: May be renewed annually for a total of four years. To remain eligible, recipients are required to maintain full-time enrollment as an undergraduate student and a GPA of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale), and must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.

Other terms: No separate scholarship application — consideration is based on the admission application. The page publishes only a dollar range, not a GPA grid; exact amount within the range is not published. Marked automaticOnStats false because the page says 'consideration is based upon' GPA and program rather than stating a guaranteed amount per stat.

Academic Transfer Scholarship

$5,000 - $12,000 per year · Published range

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

GPA: Based on the cumulative GPA from transfer credits accepted by Shenandoah University (no published GPA-to-amount grid)

Eligibility: Students transferring into the College of Arts & Sciences, School of Business, or School of Nursing; no additional application required ('May very by degree.')

Renewal: May be renewed annually for a total of four years. Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment as an undergraduate student and a GPA of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale), and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.

Other terms: Transfer-specific merit track; eligibility determined from the admission application.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: Outside scholarships only trigger an aid adjustment if total aid would exceed the cost of attendance (or the student's aid eligibility cap); below that ceiling, awards are not displaced.
