Texas College
Decision sheet

Texas · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

DRAFT: Texas College (a small private HBCU in Tyler, TX) publishes a clear three-tier freshman scholarship ladder (Presidential / Dean's / Honors) with stated GPA and ACT/SAT cutoffs — but every award requires a separate scholarship application and the top award covers only tuition, not room and board.

Selection beyond grades and scores. These awards are not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read each award's selection rules, application steps and dates. Meeting a minimum is not an award offer.

Awards to discuss

First 3 of 5 recorded awards, in chapter display order. This is a selection, not a ranking. Read the full chapter for all awards. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Presidential Scholarship Program

Up to full tuition · Variable or qualified amount

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

GPA: 3.8 or higher · SAT: 1060 · ACT: 23 or above

Eligibility: High school graduate; Top ten percent of high school class; must be accepted for admission and submit a scholarship application

Renewal: Must enroll in at least fifteen (15) semester hours and pass twelve (12) semester hours per semester; Maintain 3.7 or higher G.P.A. and remain in good standing with the College

Other terms: Four-year scholarship for incoming freshmen only. Amount is stated as 'Up to the cost of tuition' — tuition only, NOT fees, room, or board. Limited number of scholarships available; separate scholarship application required, so not automatic on stats.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?
