Texas State
Decision sheet

Texas · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

Large Texas public whose Assured Scholarships are genuinely guaranteed — a published test-score-or-class-rank grid pays $4,000 to $12,000 per year automatically to every qualified resident and nonresident, with a flat $40,000 award for National Merit Finalists on top.

More than one award path. Some awards use published academic thresholds. Others have different selection criteria. A score chart does not describe every award at this school.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: Texas State caps total aid at your cost of attendance and financial need. If an outside scholarship creates an over-award, the school reduces loans first, then work-study — it does not reach into your assured merit scholarship first. That makes Texas State friendlier to stacking outside money than schools that cut institutional aid first.
