Wheaton (IL)
Decision sheet

Illinois · Research checked 2026-05-13 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

Evangelical Christian liberal arts college outside Chicago with a fully published five-tier automatic merit ladder ($8,000 to $25,000) and a hard tuition cap on the total institutional scholarship/grant package — outside dollars that push above tuition displace Wheaton aid first.

Published academic criteria. These awards are recorded as automatic on academic criteria. Match the published grades and scores, then check residency, entering year and every additional condition.

Awards to discuss

First 3 of 6 recorded awards, in chapter display order. This is a selection, not a ranking. Read the full chapter for all awards. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Trustee Scholarship

$25,000 per year (2026-2027) · Published award terms

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

Eligibility: Top tier of Wheaton's published academic ladder. Awarded automatically through admission review. National Merit Semifinalists qualify for the Trustee Scholarship as the floor — meaning Semifinalist status guarantees the top published tier.

Renewal: Renewable up to four years contingent on maintaining good academic and social standing.

President Scholarship

$23,000 per year (2026-2027) · Published award terms

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

Eligibility: Awarded automatically by the admission committee. No separate application — Wheaton states 'All Wheaton College applicants (including non-U.S. citizens) will be considered for Academic Scholarships based on academic credentials and review of their application for admission.'

Renewal: Renewable up to four years with continued good academic and social standing.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: Wheaton applies a hard cap on institutional scholarship and grant aid at the cost of tuition for the year. When outside scholarships plus Wheaton institutional aid exceed tuition, the Wheaton-funded portion is reduced first to bring the total to or below the tuition line — not cost of attendance, just tuition.

The research date is not a guarantee that a policy still applies. Confirm current amounts, deadlines and conditions with the school before making a financial decision.
