Willamette
Decision sheet

Oregon · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

Willamette (Salem, OR) gives every applicant an automatic merit scholarship starting at $28,000/yr that stacks with need-based aid, plus a deep menu of competitive department scholarships (up to $12,000) — but you can hold only ONE competitive award and the merit amount never increases. (DRAFT)

Selection beyond grades and scores. These awards are not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read each award's selection rules, application steps and dates. Meeting a minimum is not an award offer.

Awards to discuss

First 3 of 10 recorded awards, in chapter display order. This is a selection, not a ranking. Read the full chapter for all awards. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Merit Scholarship (First-Year)

$28,000-Amount not published (starting at $28,000) · Published award terms

Not recorded as automatic on grades and scores. Read the selection rules.

Eligibility: All first-year applicants automatically considered; awarded at admission based on quality of the application (primarily academic performance). No separate application; must be full-time each semester

Renewal: Available for up to 8 semesters (4 years) or until graduation requirements complete; renewed automatically with satisfactory academic progress (minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA and full-time enrollment each semester). Amounts will NOT increase year to year and are renewed at the same amount regardless of cost increases.

Other terms: Holistic — no published GPA/test grid; only a floor ($28,000) is stated, no maximum.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: The school does not publish a specific outside-scholarship displacement policy; confirm treatment with the aid office before counting on stacking.

The research date is not a guarantee that a policy still applies. Confirm current amounts, deadlines and conditions with the school before making a financial decision.
