Lynchburg
Decision sheet

Virginia · Research checked 2026-07-02 · School research, not an aid offer

The starting point

DRAFT: University of Lynchburg awards every admitted full-time first-year student an automatic merit scholarship of $20,000-$25,000 based solely on weighted high school GPA — no application, no test scores required — with smaller stackable add-ons for Westover Honors Fellows and Phi Theta Kappa transfers.

More than one award path. Some awards use published academic thresholds. Others have different selection criteria. A score chart does not describe every award at this school.

Awards to discuss

First 3 of 6 recorded awards, in chapter display order. This is a selection, not a ranking. Read the full chapter for all awards. Amounts retain the original units and conditions; confirm the entering year with the school.

Hopwood Scholarship

$25,000 · Published amount

Recorded as automatic on academic criteria; all conditions apply.

GPA: 4.0+ weighted

Eligibility: Full-time admitted student; weighted GPA used; GPA on a 100-point scale is converted to a 4.0 scale

Renewal: Renewable with continued full-time enrollment and satisfactory academic progress. "After your first year, scholarships are renewable for three additional years if renewal eligibility is maintained."

Other terms: All full-time admitted students are automatically considered — no separate scholarship application. SAT/ACT optional; submitting scores can increase the award (likely only if SAT above 1200-1300 or ACT 25-28). You may receive only one of the academic awards.

Ask before you decide

  1. Which entering-year policy and residency category apply to us? What are the admission and scholarship deadlines?
  2. What grades and credits are required to renew, and for how many terms?
  3. How would other school awards or outside scholarships change the offer?

Recorded stacking policy: The University of Lynchburg's excerpt only says outside scholarships 'may lead to adjustments in your overall aid package, such as loans or work-study amounts' -- it does not state that loans/work-study are reduced before institutional grants, nor that grants are protected except to prevent an over-award. The school does not publish a specific displacement mechanism; confirm treatment with the aid office before counting on stacking.
