What families often miss

  1. Creighton awards scholarships on a rolling basis after December 1, with decisions typically 4-6 weeks after a completed application. Applicants who submit after the priority date can still receive merit, but the pool shrinks. Competitive awards (Scott, Next Generation Leaders, Ashton Welch) have additional January 10 deadlines that are not extensible.

  2. Creighton names its automatic merit award (Creighton Merit Scholarships) and confirms it is automatically considered, but it does not publish a public GPA/test-to-amount table the way Alabama or Ole Miss do. Forum-sourced anchors are not a substitute for the actual offer letter; build the budget around a verified worst case until you have the award in hand.

  3. Creighton's public consumer-information pages do not publish an outside-scholarship displacement policy. Families who expect to layer outside awards on top of Creighton merit should ask the office directly: 'When an outside scholarship is reported, what is reduced first — work-study, federal loans, institutional grant, or unmet need?' Get the answer in writing before banking on a stacked aid plan.

  4. When a Creighton applicant qualifies for FACHEX or another tuition-exchange program, Creighton's own scholarship is replaced by the exchange award rather than added to it. The exchange can still be combined with need-based grants and loans, but it is not additive to merit. Children of higher-education employees should verify the swap math before committing.
