Elon Honors Program — $27,000 a year ($108,000 over four years), but only 60 seats and an interview required
The Honors Program is Elon's flagship merit award. Each year, 60 students are selected based on their high school records, essays, teacher recommendations, and a faculty interview. Honors students receive a $15,000 scholarship renewable annually, plus a $12,000 Presidential Scholarship, for total scholarship funding of $27,000 each year — $108,000 over four years — and they also get a $1,000 Global Study grant and a $1,000 thesis-research grant. Against a 2026-27 cost of attendance of $68,495, the Honors package covers roughly 40% of the bill; it is a major discount, not a full ride. Unlike Elon's automatic Presidential Scholarship, Honors requires a separate application by November 10 and an interview during the February Honors and Fellows weekend. Students aiming for Honors should also know it is the most selective rung of a broader ladder: six discipline-based Fellows programs (Business, Communications, Elon College, Engineering and Computing, Nursing, Teaching) plus the Isabella Cannon Leadership Fellows each add $8,000 per year on top of any automatic award.
