    Must have completed a minimum of 10 grades at the Adventist Academies of Puerto Rico; non-transferable; application filed at the Education Department office of the student's Adventist Association (church/academy).

    How to keep it

    Credited semesterly; must maintain a general GPA of no less than 2.75 at UAA; maximum duration 4 years; full-time load (12+ credits) required.

What families often miss

  1. Both published institutional awards are gated on Adventist schooling: the Beca Presidencial requires graduating from 'una academia adventista de Puerto Rico,' and the Alumnos Promisorios award requires 'un mínimo de 10 grados en las Academias Adventistas de Puerto Rico.' No other institutional merit track is published.

  2. Its maximum duration is 2 years, and the payout shrinks after year 1 ($900→$600 or $500→$250 per semester) — budget for the drop and the early end.

  3. The Presidencial requires a 3.00 GPA 'cada semestre' (checked every semester, not just annually); the Promisorios requires 2.75. Falling below ends the award.

  4. Only 'hasta un año de gracia' is allowed to start using benefits, and you receive only 'los beneficios del tiempo que le quede' — the clock keeps running.

  5. The application is filed 'en la oficina del Departamento de Educación de la Asociación Adventista a la que pertenezca su iglesia/academia' — through the church organization, not the university.

  6. A full-time load (12+ credits) is an explicit condition of the award.

  7. The Pell figures shown are for 2018-2019 (max $6,095) and the BETA income gate reads '8% de la mediana' (almost certainly a typo for 80%) — verify current numbers with the aid office (finaid@uaa.edu).

  • What is the scholarship deadline?

    No deadline is published on the becas page. The Beca Presidencial allows up to one year of grace after high school to start using benefits; the Alumnos Promisorios application goes through your Adventist Association's Education Department. Contact finaid@uaa.edu (787-834-9595 ext. 2200).

  • How much is the Beca Presidencial and how is it paid?

    $3,000 total for a 3.50-4.00 cumulative HS index ($900 per semester in year 1, $600 per semester in year 2) or $1,500 for 3.00-3.49 ($500/semester then $250/semester). It requires graduating from a PR Adventist academy, maintaining a 3.00 GPA each semester, and lasts a maximum of 2 years.

  • How much is the Alumnos Promisorios award?

    $4,000 (GPA 3.75-4.00), $3,000 (3.50-3.74), or $2,000 (2.75-3.49), where GPA is computed from 7th grade through senior year. It requires at least 10 grades at PR Adventist academies, a 2.75 GPA at UAA, full-time enrollment, and lasts up to 4 years. It can be credited to tuition, books, housing, and food.

  • What does UAA cost?

    The undergraduate costs page lists per-term charges: tuition $3,000 (15 credits × $200), fees/labs bringing the subtotal to $3,810, plus books $800, health plan $250, housing $800, and cafeteria minimum $900 — total $6,560 (no annual full-COA figure or transportation/personal allowance is published; costs are 'sujetos a modificación').
